Reiki Therapy

What is Reiki Therapy?

When the body needs healing that goes beyond the physical.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice whose name says everything about what it does: «Rei» means universal wisdom, and «Ki» means life force energy. Together: the intelligent energy that animates all living things.

The foundational principle of Reiki is simple — when the life force energy that flows through us is balanced and unobstructed, we feel well. When it becomes blocked or depleted — through stress, emotional pain, physical injury, or the accumulated weight of daily life — we begin to feel it. In the body as tension and fatigue. In the mind as anxiety and mental fog. In the spirit as disconnection and a sense that something is simply «off.»

Reiki works by addressing those blockages at their source.

During a session, Esbe serves as a channel for this universal energy, gently placing her hands on or just above specific points of the body — the energy centers known as chakras — allowing the energy to flow where it is most needed. The technique is completely non-invasive and requires no pressure, no manipulation, and no disrobing. And yet, what clients experience is profound: waves of warmth, a release of held tension, emotional clarity, and a deep, settling peace that many describe as unlike anything else they’ve felt.

A 2017 study published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice found Reiki effective in reducing anxiety and depression. A 2018 study in the Journal of Holistic Nursing documented its effectiveness in improving sleep quality and reducing stress in clients with chronic pain. Hospitals and wellness centers worldwide now integrate Reiki alongside conventional medical treatments — not as a replacement, but as a powerful complement to the body’s own healing process.

Esbe brings to each Reiki session the same attentiveness and presence she brings to all her therapeutic work: a deep sensitivity to what the body is holding and a genuine desire to support its return to balance.

What to expect:

You remain fully clothed throughout the session. Esbe creates a calm, quiet environment and begins by setting a clear intention for your healing. She then gently places her hands — with light touch or hovering just above the body — over a series of positions from head to feet, spending time at each energy center and following the body’s guidance.

You may feel warmth, tingling, gentle pulsing, or waves of relaxation moving through you. Some clients experience emotional release — tears, laughter, a sudden sense of lightness. Others simply drift into the deepest rest they’ve felt in years. Every session is different, because every body is different.

Sessions last 60 to 90 minutes. Drinking water afterward is recommended, as the body continues to integrate the session for hours — and sometimes days — after.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not a substitute for medical treatment. It is intended to support, not replace, the care of qualified healthcare professionals.
