Swedish Massage

What is Swedish Massage?

The art of letting go — for body and mind.

Swedish massage is the gold standard of full-body relaxation — and for good reason. Developed in the 19th century, it combines five fundamental techniques: effleurage (long, flowing strokes), petrissage (kneading), friction (deep circular movements), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), and vibration — all working together to bring the body into a state of complete ease.

In Esbe’s hands, Swedish massage becomes a precisely orchestrated experience. She begins with lighter pressure to warm the muscles and open circulation, gradually building to release deeper layers of tension. The result isn’t just relaxation — it’s a full nervous system reset.

Science backs what the body already knows: Swedish massage reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), boosts endorphin production, improves blood flow to muscles and organs, and enhances lymphatic drainage. Regular sessions have been shown to improve sleep quality, reduce headaches, and support overall immune function.

What to expect:

You’ll be draped with a sheet throughout the session, with only the area being worked on uncovered. Esbe begins with light effleurage strokes to warm the tissue, then progressively works into areas of tension with kneading and friction. Many clients drift in and out of sleep — that’s the body doing exactly what it needs to do. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes. Drink plenty of water afterward.
